Welcome to Power2

The City of Charlotte's newest energy initiative, the "Power2'' campaign

"Power2" has been innovative in its efforts to implement energy-efficient initiatives, designed to make Charlotte a true national energy leader.  Our vision collectively promotes efficiency education, environmental quality, and economic vitality.  It is a goal that is a top priority, and crucial to Charlotte's future as the new energy capital.

The Department of Energy has urged that the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant money should be used as starter funds for projects that will live on once the funding is exhausted. The City of Charlotte is accomplishing this by getting our residents and businesses interested and involved in the "Power2" campaign. Its diverse range of valuable projects and programs are the foundation of energy efficiency that will drive a conversation in Charlotte for years to come.

And the 16 projects featured in the "Power2" campaign are well underway.  City government, local businesses and organizations, as well as citizens, are implementing aggressive efforts to improve air quality, conserve energy, promote renewable energy, invest in revitalization areas, recycle waste, and reduce emissions.

Through "Power2," the City will continue to work with these groups to stimulate new thinking and encourage them to learn from each other, so we can achieve so much more together. It is our hope that Charlotte will become known for these successful partnerships, and that our strategy can be a model for other municipalities.

Learn more by signing up for our monthly newsletter to learn about projects, events, and other regional energy initiatives.  Through our web site, you can also connect with managers of each of the 16 energy efficiency and conservation projects.  The "Power2" web site also give you a direct-connect to the City of Charlotte's Energy and Sustainability Manager, charged with overseeing the City's energy projects and environmental policy development.

The ultimate goal of "Power2" is to empower you with the knowledge and opportunities to make energy efficiency and conservation a basic principle in how you live your life. Knowledge creates power, and regardless of being just one person, you can set a standard for others, and make your own personal contribution to this collective community goal.
