This project included focusing on improving energy efficiency in both the residential (multi-family units) and commercial sectors through financial incentives.
Commercial Building Component: This was focused on the Business Corridor Revitalization Geography, this component aimed to incent the renovation of older commercial structures and the location of new businesses and jobs in the City's Priority Corridors and business areas. Investing to create more energy efficient buildings in the area of the City with the oldest and least energy efficient structures promotes infill development in alignment with the City's growth strategy. Possible expenditures included equipment and lighting upgrades. At least a 1:1 match was required for use of the EECBG funds; the match may be up to 1:4 (City:private) depending on the technologies employed.
Commercial Building Grant Recipients:
Apartment Complex Component: This also focused on the City's Business Corridor Revitalization Geography, this component aimed to promote the reinvestment and revitalization of older and distressed rental apartment complexes. Possible expenditures included equipment and lighting upgrades. Preference is to provide grants at a 1:2 (City:private) cost sharing ratio with apartment complex owners applying for funds.

Project Update: Mechanical Contractors Inc.
As one of the Commercial Building Retrofit funding recipients, the big project they pursued was solar panels on the roof. They also installed solar tubes and sun lights on the ceiling.
Project Update: Electrical Distributors Inc.
As one of the Commercial Building Retrofit funding recipients, they added solar tubes and sun lights to their warehouse. They also upgraded their lighting to LED bulbs and added motion sensors to save energy.
Project Update: Chimney Apartments
Updates were completed on these apartments through the Apartment Complex Component of the Commercial Building Retrofit Program. All of the windows and doors were replaced with Energy Star windows and doors to all 214 units.
