Energy Investments in Revitalization Areas

 

Areas designated as Revitalization Zones were prioritized under the plan to receive a portion of the grant. Planners separated the allocation between improvements in Residential and Commercial areas.

Residential Energy Efficiency Program
The Residential Energy Efficiency Improvement Program will complement the City's existing housing rehabilitation programs by providing energy efficiency and weatherization improvements at an average of $6,000 per unit for a total of 100 units. This program will target homeowners who apply for housing rehabilitation assistance. Eligible homeowners will have an income at or below 80% of the area median income. Priority was given to homeowners in current revitalization areas. In addition to saving money for the homeowner, weatherization improves comfort level within the home. Commercial Building Retrofit Program
The Commercial Building Retrofit Program is centered around two main components: Commercial Building Upgrades and Apartment Complex upgrades. The Commercial Building component incents older commercial structures within the City's Priority Corridors and business areas while the Apartment Complex component will promote reinvestment and revitalization of older and distressed apartment complexes.  READ MORE>
